Taking local art global

Our vision of building an alternate global economy based on trade of local art is shared by products showcased on ekriti. These products are an embodiment of local art forms prevalent around the world- arts forms that have been marginalized due to urbanization and industrialization. We aim to revive the artistic talent through capital infusion and strategic advice.

Encouraging fair trade

ekriti encourages fair trade by directly connecting the buyers with the makers of handicrafts. The higher sales revenues in the absence of the exploitative middlemen help fuel the growth of handicrafts industry. All this is supported by transparent operations rooted in policies suited to the art makers.

Promoting social growth

ekriti’s development model is firmly supported by its vendors and social partners. ekriti vendors are eclectic social enterprises enabling people to earn a living making things. Our vendor’s commitment towards strengthening the micro-level financial systems in participating communities is complimented by our social partners’ commitment to solving urgent societal problems. ekriti’s social partners are non-profit organizations working at the grass root level to develop sustainable solutions to problems in the field of healthcare and education amongst others. At the center of this grand idea is ekriti, which provides financial and strategic support to the participating vendors and partners. The ekriti Development Fund supported by contribution from ekriti’s sales revenue is the pride jewel in our partnership with the community.

Extra personal touch

The products showcased on ekriti are handmade, and at times can be customized to suit the art collectors’ needs. The aim is to provide that extra personal touch providing a sense of belonging to the buyers.  For afterall, we are all about fostering a sense of belonging in the communities across the world: something that encourages people to participate proactively towards giving back to the community.
